Welcome to the website of The Academy of the Holy Angels where we hope you will gain a sense of what it means to be a student or an alumna of the oldest private girls' school in Bergen County NJ. To quote our Principal, Miss Jennifer Moran, "We are not excellent because we are old; we are old because we are excellent."

Since our foundation in 1879, thousands of women have passed through our portals. After going on to study in the nation's best colleges and universities, many have earned positions in the highest ranks of medicine, government, law, education, public service, and business; others have gone on to excel in the arts and athletics. These women were and are the leaders of yesterday and today. Our current students will be the leaders of tomorrow.

At AHA, our curriculum, our arts and athletics programs, our extra-curricula activities, and even our facilities, are planned by our Board of Trustees, the Administration and Faculty with one goal, and one goal only, in mind: enabling each and every student to reach the fullness of her potential - spiritually, intellectually, socially and physically- so she in turn may share her gifts with others.

Once a student has gained admission to the Academy, the Administration and Faculty devote all of their energies to assisting her be the best that she can be by providing and sustaining an environment where academic excellence, character development, moral integrity, and service to others are each valued in their own right.

We recognize that our first-rate education and solid reputation are not the only criteria a young girl and her family consider when choosing a college preparatory high school. Our students are often asked why they chose AHA over others in the area. The most frequently heard replies are: "The school felt so warm and nurturing when I visited".

"The girls were all so friendly and helpful"; "Everyone was not the same; it seemed OK to have my own style"; "It's considered cool to be smart"; "It didn't seem cliquish"; "The self-confidence and self-assuredness of the upperclassmen."

Although the reasons for choosing AHA vary, what is forever constant is what evolves after admission: a strong sense of spirit, lifetime friendships, and intense pride and loyalty. These feelings are shared by students, their families, the faculty and the administration.
