The Academy of the Holy Angels in Demarest NJ is pleased to announce that it was recently awarded a $75,000 grant from the New Jersey Office of Homeland Security and Preparedness. AHA was one of eighteen of 84 applicants who were selected to receive this funding. Christopher Rodriguez, Director of the New Jersey Office of Homeland Security, described the parameters of the program. “The grant awards, which are up to $75,000 for each organization, must be used for the purchase and installation of physical security equipment or for security-related training for organization personnel.” Over the past several years Holy Angels has collaborated with local law enforcement officials and security consultants and has made significant upgrades to its security systems and procedures. Director of Technology, Mr. George Ballane, who wrote the grant application for Holy Angels, commented: “The safety and security of students and faculty are our first priority. We are thankful for the partnership we have formed with Law Enforcement and the Department of Homeland Security. It is great to see that the local and federal governments are funding school safety initiatives.”
