AHA Debaters Finish Season with Team & Individual Awards


Demarest, NJ: Skilled debaters learn to think on their feet and deliver cogent, often eloquent, arguments. This season, the Academy of the Holy Angels Junior Varsity Debate Team demonstrated its prowess, finishing fourth in Bergen County’s league. Jaya Sharma also received a fourth place Speaker Award for her individual contributions. 

The award-winning team was coached by AHA Social Studies Chairperson Gail Fair.

Since 1879, thousands of women have passed through the portals of Academy of the Holy Angels high school, the oldest private girls’ school in New Jersey. Many go on to study at some of the nation’s best universities, earning high-ranking positions in medicine, government, law, education, public service, business, arts and athletics.
