AHA Engineering Students Help Judge STREAM Fair

Demarest, NJ: Four seniors from Jing Loo’s engineering classes at the Academy of the Holy Angels recently shared their time and talents as judges for a local STREAM Fair.

Antonia Thompson of Cliffside Park, Demitria Poulos of Englewood, Samantha Ryan of Orangeburg (NY), and Katherine Kohler of Mahwah volunteered at Christ the Teacher, an elementary school in Fort Lee. During the fair, the judges from AHA met with the elementary school students and discussed and scored each entry according to its merits.

Many people are now familiar with the STEM acronym, which incorporates science, technology, engineering, and mathematics. The STREAM curriculum takes this concept further by integrating religion and the arts.

Since 1879, thousands of women have passed through the portals of Academy of the Holy Angels high school, the oldest private girls’ school in New Jersey. Many go on to study at some of the nation’s best universities, earning high-ranking positions in medicine, government, law, education, public service, business, arts and athletics. Our goal is to provide each girl with the tools she needs to reach the fullness of her potential—spiritually, intellectually, socially and physically, by offering a first –rate education in a nurturing environment where equal importance is placed on academic excellence, character development, moral integrity and giving service to others.
