AHA Flute Ensemble Performs at SSND Luncheon

Demarest, NJ: This month, the Academy of the Holy Angels Flute Ensemble performed at the School Sisters of Notre Dame’s Donor Recognition Luncheon. The event was held in Wilton, Connecticut, on Sunday, November 4th.

Jennifer Kim of Fort Lee, Mary Macri of Saugerties (NY), Amanda Siemsen of Ramsey, and Irene Kim of River Vale presented a varied program that included Baroque and Romantic selections. Jennifer Kim also played piano at this event.

The performers received a warm welcome from the many School Sisters and AHA alumnae in attendance.

Some of the ensemble members are members of AHA’s chapter of Tri-M, formally known as Modern Music Masters. Sponsored by the National Association for Music Educators, Tri-M recognizes young musicians and focuses on creating future leaders in music education and advocacy.

AHA Instrumental Music Director Mariann Annecchino, who is the Tri-M Chapter 2150 adviser, encourages society members to actively promote music at the Academy and within the greater community.

Founded by the School Sisters of Notre Dame in 1879, the Academy of the Holy Angels is the oldest private girls’ school in Bergen County. While AHA is steeped in Catholic tradition, this prestigious high school serves young women from a broad spectrum of cultural and religious backgrounds. Over time, thousands of women have passed through AHA’s portals. Many go on to study at some of the nation’s best universities, earning high-ranking positions in medicine, government, law, education, public service, business, arts, and athletics. The Academy’s current leaders continue to further the SSND mission to provide each student with the tools she needs to reach the fullness of her potential—spiritually, intellectually, socially, and physically, by offering a first-rate education in a nurturing environment where equal importance is placed on academic excellence, character development, moral integrity, and service to others.
