AHA Teacher Edits World Religions Book
September 2013
Academy of the Holy Angels Religious Studies teacher Kathleen Walsh served as Development Editor on a book entitled World Religions in Dialogue which has been published by Anselm Academic. The book takes the form of a series of dialogues between scholars from various faith traditions and scholars approaching their study of these religions from a purely academic perspective. Kathleen, who is described in the Editor’s Acknowledgements as being “a rock in the maelstrom”, will likely incorporate many of the insights gained from this project in her World Religions classes at Holy Angels. “I encourage my students to think critically and delve deeply into their studies and sometimes there are questions posed in class that I need to research before offering a response. Now I have an esteemed group of colleagues, comprised of both academic and spiritual leaders, on whom I can rely for information and perspective.” She added, “The process of dialogue, especially among people who differ from one another, is quite consistent with the philosophy of the School Sisters of Notre Dame, who sponsor AHA and whose directional statement includes the mandate to ‘witness to unity in a divided world’. “ The Academy of the Holy Angels, a private Catholic all girls high school located in Demarest, NJ, welcomes students from all faith traditions.
