Based on “The Princess and the Pea,” this humorous tale of machinations and mayhem will keep you in stitches until the final bow.
No one in the land of Queen Aggravain and King Sextimus the Silent may marry before Prince Dauntless finds a bride. The catch: Queen Aggravain has devised positively insurmountable tests for all of his prospective princesses.

This hilarious hit play was the vehicle that made Carol Burnett a star. The show opened off-Broadway in 1959, moved to Broadway, and was later filmed for television with Burnett and comedian Ken Berry in the leading roles.

The Academy’s production will feature Gabrielle Layne as Princess Winnifred, Robert Buhrmeister of Pearl River High School as Prince Dauntless, Rianna LeHane as Lady Larkin, Luke Berninger of Saint Joseph Regional High School as Sir Harry, and Valentina Zazzali as Queen Aggravain. Key roles will be portrayed by Justin Del Valle (King Sextimus), Nick Gallucci (Minstrel), Marissa Dellapi (Jester), and Patsy Coleman (Wizard). Supporting performers will include Emily Stanzione, Jenna Cooperman, Jack Piccirillo, Ross Foothorap, Emilie Thomas, Madison Picca, Olivia Lopez, Lola Samiian, Liana Akos, Will Anderson, Emma Coughlin, Deanna Frassa, Valeria Gonzalez, Shirley Made, Emily McKiernan, and Matt Webb.

The show includes music by Mary Rodgers and lyrics by Marshall Barer. The book is by Jay Thompson, Dean Fuller, and Marshall Barer. AHA’s production is being presented through a special arrangement with the Rodgers and Hammerstein Theatre Library.

Founded by the School Sisters of Notre Dame in 1879, the Academy of the Holy Angels is the oldest private girls’ school in Bergen County. While AHA is steeped in Catholic tradition, this prestigious high school serves young women from a broad spectrum of cultural and religious backgrounds. Over time, thousands of women have passed through AHA’s portals. Many go on to study at some of the nation’s best universities, earning high-ranking positions in medicine, government, law, education, public service, business, arts, and athletics. The Academy’s current leaders continue to further the SSND mission to provide each student with the tools she needs to reach the fullness of her potential—spiritually, intellectually, socially, and physically, by offering a first-rate education in a nurturing environment where equal importance is placed on academic excellence, character development, moral integrity, and service to others.
