Angels Roll Past the Competition, Earn County Bowling Title

Demarest, NJ: The Angels Bowling Team earned the Bergen County Championship this month, handily rolling past the competition by 300 pins. Eighteen teams competed at Bowler City in Hackensack, and the athletes from the Academy of the Holy Angels quickly rose to the top.

Led by Coach Patrick Dunne, the championship team includes Alexa Hernandez of Spring Valley (NY),  Amelia Brunda of Paramus, Shiho Numakura of Teaneck, Ciara Mottley of River Vale, and Tiffany Rose Sucero of New Milford.

Coach Dunne established the Academy’s bowling team 19 years ago, and has guided the Angels to several divisional titles and numerous State Sectional titles. The team previously won the county championship in 2014.
With this critical victory now in the books, the Angels are now looking to build on their success.

“We hope to win our division as we take on Paramus Catholic on the 25th of this month and hope to finish first or second at the State Sectional, which would give us a berth in the state finals,” Coach Dunne commented.

Since 1879, thousands of women have passed through the portals of Academy of the Holy Angels high school, the oldest private girls’ school in New Jersey. Many go on to study at some of the nation’s best universities, earning high-ranking positions in medicine, government, law, education, public service, business, arts and athletics. Our goal is to provide each girl with the tools she needs to reach the fullness of her potential—spiritually, intellectually, socially and physically, by offering a first –rate education in a nurturing environment where equal importance is placed on academic excellence, character development, moral integrity and giving service to others.
