Chloe Ibrahim Wins Rising Star Award for Student Direction of AHA Musical

Demarest, NJ:  The past few days have been packed with excitement for Chloe Ibrahim. On June 6, just three days after her graduation from the Academy of the Holy Angels, this Blauvelt, New York, resident received a Rising Star Award from the Paper Mill Playhouse in Millburn, New Jersey. She was recognized for outstanding student achievement for her role as student director of Holy Angels’ spring 2022 production of “The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee.”

Thomas Snyder from Saint Joseph Regional High School was also nominated for Best Leading Actor for his portrayal of William Barfee in AHA’s production.

“I would just like to thank Mrs. Collins for getting me to this point and making me the person I am today,” Ibrahim said, referring to AHA’s award-winning director, Katharine Collins.

Collins, who provided overall direction of the musical comedy, said she “is extremely proud of Chloe and could not have done the show without her. Her organization, passion, and commitment to ‘Spelling Bee’ is what made it such a wonderful success.”
Collins added that she will miss Ibrahim, who will be heading to college this fall.

Ibrahim will study biology at the University of Washington – Seattle, and plans to join the university’s theater crew.

During her four years at Holy Angels, Ibrahim earned several honors for her accomplishments. She was inducted into the National Honor Society, the National Art Honor Society, and the Italian Honor Society. She served as president of the Italian Honor Society, and graduated with the World Language Professionals Association’s Gold Medal in honor of her outstanding work in this field of study. She also received a Jennifer Moran Award for excellence in the study of the Italian language.

Founded by the School Sisters of Notre Dame in 1879, the Academy of the Holy Angels is the oldest private girls’ school in Bergen County. While AHA is steeped in Catholic tradition, this prestigious school serves young women from a broad spectrum of cultural and religious backgrounds. Over time, thousands of women have passed through AHA’s portals. Many go on to study at some of the nation’s best universities, earning high-ranking positions in medicine, government, law, education, public service, business, arts, and athletics. The Academy’s current leaders continue to further the SSND mission to provide each student with the tools she needs to reach the fullness of her potential—spiritually, intellectually, socially, and physically, by offering a first-rate education in a nurturing environment where equal importance is placed on academic excellence, character development, moral integrity, and service to others.
