Cresskill Violinist Is Featured Performer at Juilliard

Demarest, NJ: Internationally acclaimed teen violinist Nayoun Kim of Cresskill was a featured performer in the Juilliard Pre-college Symphony’s May 4th concert. She presented Maurice Ravel’s haunting “Tzigane, Rapsodie de Concert,” under Conductor Adam Glaser.

Originally from South Korea, Kim has been playing the violin since she was five years old. She has performed with An Die Musik Philharmonia and the Lviv Philharmonic Orchestra, and was a featured musician in the Young Tchaikovsky International Violin Camp. Kim has also participated in Switzerland’s Crans-Montana Summer Camp. She has won competitions in Korea and was a top prize winner in the Fifth Hong Kong International Violin Competition.

At the age of 10, Kim was highlighted on the Korean Educational Broadcast System’s program, “Parents.”

Kim is a freshman at the Academy of the Holy Angels, where she studies instrumental music with Mariann Annecchino and lends her considerable talents to the Academy’s music program. At Juilliard, she studies with Li Lin.

Founded by the School Sisters of Notre Dame in 1879, the Academy of the Holy Angels is the oldest private girls’ school in Bergen County. While AHA is steeped in Catholic tradition, this prestigious high school serves young women from a broad spectrum of cultural and religious backgrounds. Over time, thousands of women have passed through AHA’s portals. Many go on to study at some of the nation’s best universities, earning high-ranking positions in medicine, government, law, education, public service, business, arts, and athletics. The Academy’s current leaders continue to further the SSND mission to provide each student with the tools she needs to reach the fullness of her potential—spiritually, intellectually, socially, and physically, by offering a first-rate education in a nurturing environment where equal importance is placed on academic excellence, character development, moral integrity, and service to others.
