Food Truck & Arts Festival Delivers a Delightful Afternoon

Demarest, NJ: An enthusiastic crowd enjoyed fine fare and outstanding entertainment at the Third Annual Food Truck & Arts Festival.

This fundraiser is organized by Angels in the Arts, a group of parents and guardians who support the arts programs at the Academy of the Holy Angels. Proceeds from the festival benefit the arts programs at AHA and help fund scholarships for Academy graduates who pursue careers in the visual and performing arts.

Each year, AITA presents three scholarships: two awards of $1,000 each and the $1,500 Angel Award for the Arts, which is given to a graduating senior in recognition of her contributions to the arts at AHA. Seniors are also honored at the Arts Appreciation Dinner.

This spring, festival-goers enjoyed gourmet treats from a number of food trucks, including Waffles De Lys, Luke’s Lobster, Empanada Mania, Polka Dot Truck, CheeZen, Dark Side of the Moo, PhillyFry, and Carnival Milkshake & Donut Bar.

Activities included arts and crafts, art exhibits featuring work by AHA’s award-winning student artists, and a performance by the two-time National Champion AHA Varsity Dance Team. Entertainment was also provided by the cast of AHA's production of “The Mystery of Edwin Drood,” the Academy Chorus, the AHA Vocal Ensemble, and guests from local elementary schools.

If you missed this spring’s festival, be sure to keep watch for the next one!

Since 1879, thousands of women have passed through the portals of Academy of the Holy Angels high school, the oldest private girls’ school in New Jersey. Many go on to study at some of the nation’s best universities, earning high-ranking positions in medicine, government, law, education, public service, business, arts and athletics. Our goal is to provide each girl with the tools she needs to reach the fullness of her potential—spiritually, intellectually, socially and physically, by offering a first –rate education in a nurturing environment where equal importance is placed on academic excellence, character development, moral integrity and giving service to others.
