Ruby Kang Wins National Art Award
April, 2015
Academy of the Holy Angels is very pleased to announce that senior Ruby Kang, who is from Ridgewood, received major recognition in the 2015 National Scholastic Art & Writing Competition. Her drawing "Nightmares" was awarded both a National Silver Medal and a National American Visions Award. The American Visions Award, which recognizes outstanding achievement in the visual arts, is given to only one student from each region in the National Competition. Ruby and other talented artists from Holy Angels had done exceedingly well in the 2015 Regional Scholastic Art & Writing Awards Competition, garnering four Gold Key Awards, 13 Silver Key Awards and 20 Honorable Mentions. Students who were awarded Gold Key Awards on the regional level were then eligible for the national competition at which Ruby received this recognition.
Ruby, who has been an AHA Art Track student, will be continuing her professional design studies at Cornell University’s School of Architecture in the fall.
