Students Commissioned as Eucharistic Ministers at AHA Feast Day Celebration

Demarest, NJ: Seventeen students from Academy of the Holy Angels were commissioned as Eucharistic Ministers during the recent Feast Day Mass and celebration.

AHA President Melinda Hanlon opened the festivities with an address to the school community, including the full student body, administrators, faculty, staff, and parents. President Hanlon presented an enlightening history of the Academy, which was founded in Fort Lee on the Feast of the Guardian Angels in October of 1879.

Father Larry Evans II, pastor of Saint Francis Church in Ridgefield Park, presided over a reverent and humor-rich Mass. In his enthusiastic homily, he reminded the Angels that they are free to be themselves at AHA. Fr. Larry also commissioned the new Eucharistic Ministers who hail from various towns in both New Jersey and New York.

Since 1879, thousands of women have passed through the portals of Academy of the Holy Angels high school, the oldest private girls’ school in New Jersey. Many go on to study at some of the nation’s best universities, earning high-ranking positions in medicine, government, law, education, public service, business, arts and athletics. Our goal is to provide each girl with the tools she needs to reach the fullness of her potential—spiritually, intellectually, socially and physically, by offering a first –rate education in a nurturing environment where equal importance is placed on academic excellence, character development, moral integrity and giving service to others.
