Tempers Flare in Classic Courtroom Drama, ‘12 Angry Jurors’

Demarest, NJ: It is possible for a dozen diverse individuals to set aside their biases and decide the fate of a teen accused of murder? Watch this tempestuous tale build to a cathartic conclusion as the Academy of the Holy Angels presents Reginald Rose’s “12 Angry Jurors.”

The award-winning AHA Theater Department is led by Director Katie Collins, the 2019 AHA Arts Hall of Fame inductee; and Student Director Joanna Scorese of Mahwah. Shows will be at 7:30 p.m. on Friday and Saturday, November 8 and 9. A 2 p.m. matinee will be presented on Sunday, November 10.

Movie fans will remember the explosive 1957 film version, “12 Angry Men,” starring Henry Fonda in the key role of Juror 8. The updated tale acknowledges that women may now serve as jurors.

Cast members for the AHA production include Audrey Miller of Glen Rock, Julia Fernandez of Teaneck, Nora Jacobi of West New York, Valeria Gonzalez of Lodi, Valentina Zazzali of Saddle River, Patsy Coleman of New City (New York), Deanna Frassa of New Milford, Jolie Lo Grasso of Nutley, Caitlyn Neville of Dumont, Sofia Carrol of Woodcliff Lake, Meredith Cruz of Paramus, Morgan Battaglia of Upper Saddle River, Erin Pav of Westwood, and Shivani Sahu of Paramus. Founded by the School Sisters of Notre Dame in 1879, the Academy of the Holy Angels is the oldest private girls’ school in Bergen County. While AHA is steeped in Catholic tradition, this prestigious high school serves young women from a broad spectrum of cultural and religious backgrounds. Over time, thousands of women have passed through AHA’s portals. Many go on to study at some of the nation’s best universities, earning high-ranking positions in medicine, government, law, education, public service, business, arts, and athletics. The Academy’s current leaders continue to further the SSND mission to provide each student with the tools she needs to reach the fullness of her potential—spiritually, intellectually, socially, and physically, by offering a first-rate education in a nurturing environment where equal importance is placed on academic excellence, character development, moral integrity, and service to others.
