Three Students Receive Kindness Awards

Demarest, NJ: Students who exhibit inspirational positivity, kindness, and helpfulness are regularly rewarded at the Academy of the Holy Angels. Each quarter, selected students who demonstrate these exemplary qualities receive the Sister Catherine Green Kindness Award.

Nora Pav of Westwood, Sasha Leys of Tappan (NY), and Victoria Lehman of River Edge were honored at the year-end assembly held on June 2.

Nora, a member of the Class of 2020, was honored for the support and encouragement she gives her classmates, especially those who are about to take an exam. Her friends describe her as a patient, caring, and helpful person with a smile that brightens the day.

Sasha, a sophomore, is known to her peers as a thoughtful person who tries to reach out to those in need.

“(Saha) is the most consistently kind person I have ever met,” one individual wrote. “She is always willing to help her classmates both in and out of the classroom. She always says hello in the hallways and asks how you are doing. She is one of the most effortlessly friendly and approachable people I have ever met.”

Victoria, who is completing her junior year, is known throughout the school for being friendly and sweet, and for her ready smile. She was recognized for her willingness to help others without hesitation and for genuine nature.

Any member of the AHA community, including students, faculty, and staff, may nominate a student for the Kindness Award. AHA Dean of Students Andréa Beyer oversees the nomination process.

Since 1879, thousands of women have passed through the portals of Academy of the Holy Angels high school, the oldest private girls’ school in New Jersey. Many go on to study at some of the nation’s best universities, earning high-ranking positions in medicine, government, law, education, public service, business, arts and athletics. Our goal is to provide each girl with the tools she needs to reach the fullness of her potential—spiritually, intellectually, socially and physically, by offering a first –rate education in a nurturing environment where equal importance is placed on academic excellence, character development, moral integrity and giving service to others.
