Tri-M Musicians Share Talents at Event in Connecticut

Demarest, NJ: Five musicians from the Tri-M Music Honor Society at the Academy of the Holy Angels recently performed at the School Sisters of Notre Dame’s Volunteer Recognition Luncheon in Wilton, Connecticut. Performers included pianist Jaya Sharma and the AHA String Quartet, which includes violinists Maya Sharma and Maria Guyre, violist Jiwon Yoon, and cellist Erin Yang. The students delighted their audience with a variety of musical pieces ranging from "Moon River" to "The Estudiantina Waltz."

Tri-M, formally known as Modern Music Masters, is sponsored by the National Association for Music Educators. The society recognizes young musicians and focuses on creating future leaders in music education and advocacy.

AHA Instrumental Music Director and Tri-M Chapter 2150 Adviser Mariann Annecchino encourages society members to actively promote music at AHA and within the greater community, a cause members fully embrace.

The Sharmas and Maria Guyre all reside in River Vale, Jiwon Yoon resides in Norwood, and Erin Yang resides in Palisades Park.

Founded by the School Sisters of Notre Dame in 1879, the Academy of the Holy Angels is the oldest private girls’ school in New Jersey. While AHA is steeped in Catholic tradition, this prestigious high school serves young women from a broad spectrum of cultural and religious backgrounds. Over time, thousands of women have passed through AHA’s portals. Many go on to study at some of the nation’s best universities, earning high-ranking positions in medicine, government, law, education, public service, business, arts, and athletics. The Academy’s current leaders continue to further the SSND mission to provide each student with the tools she needs to reach the fullness of her potential—spiritually, intellectually, socially, and physically, by offering a first-rate education in a nurturing environment where equal importance is placed on academic excellence, character development, moral integrity, and service to others.
