AHA Musicians Named to Regional Orchestra and Band
January 2014
Academy of the Holy Angels is pleased to announce that two of its student musicians who competed in the Region I High School Honors Ensembles auditions held on January 4th were selected for the ensembles. Flutist Michelle Lu, who is from Paramus, earned a position in the Region I High School Band and violinist June Chung, a resident of Leonia, earned a position in the first violin section of the Region I High School Orchestra. These honors ensembles are sponsored by the New Jersey Music Educators Association. Hundreds of exceptional students from the North Jersey Region, which covers Sussex County to the west through Bergen County at the eastern boundary, go through a rigorous audition process to earn a place in the regional groups. Student musicians from all over the state of New Jersey who are accepted into the regional ensembles are then eligible to audition for the All-State ensembles. The band concert is scheduled for Sunday, January 26 at Randolph High School and the orchestra concert is scheduled for Sunday, February 9th at Sparta High School. The All-State Symphonic Band will perform at NJPAC in Newark on February 22 at 2:30 p.m. The general public is invited to all performances.
