The Learning Commons

The Learning Commons has become an oasis for quiet study, collaboration, creativity, and academic exploration. This innovative space is used by all Holy Angels constituents for presentations, meetings, workshops, and social gatherings. Students and faculty have access to 49 research databases 24/7, on campus and remotely. The technological capabilities of the Learning Commons help to promote global citizenship. 

During the school day, students skim reference books, research online databases or browse print books or e-books for their term papers, engage in Haiku/PowerSchool, do their homework or discuss homework assignments with classmates, work collaboratively on class projects, read or study independently, or may receive help sessions to better develop the skills and strategies to efficiently and independently locate quality, relevant and timely information.  

The collection includes print and electronic materials. The Library subscribes to many print periodicals, journals and newspapers. It provides access to thousands more through full-text online databases, which contain digitized reference books, literary criticism, e-journals, e-books, primary source documents, newspapers, newsletters, pamphlets, book reviews, biographies, television and news transcripts from around the world, and multimedia, which include audio and video clips, images, and 3D resources.  

We provide academic research assistance in a variety of ways, including training and guidance in information literacy, reference and research strategy.
