2018 Summer Reading Program and Assignments

To diversify reading, heighten interest in different subject areas and prepare students for the demands of college, all students at the Academy of the Holy Angels are required to complete a summer reading program. Unless otherwise indicated, students will be tested on the assigned works during the first full week of school.

Additional summer assignments are required for certain courses to prepare you for the beginning for the school year. All directions are contained in the specific assignment. Please make sure you have the correct assignment for your class.

Spanish 4 Honors: Sister Carole will meet with next year's students in Spanish IV-Honors before they leave for the summer. They will receive a packet with work to be completed as a summer assignment.

Studio Art I Honors





Tuesday, August 28th – Thursday, August 30th. Orientation is mandatory for all incoming 9th grade and transfer students!

Hours - Tuesday and Wednesday - 8:00am - 2:00pm; Thursday 8:30am - 1:30pm.

Drop-Off and Pick-Up - Will be at the Event Entrance in the rear of the school ONLY. Students must sign-in each morning.

Due to the school’s security procedures, we ask that parents not accompany their daughters into the building. If you need to speak with a member of the faculty or administration, please make an appointment beforehand and park in the front of the building after dropping off your daughter. Sign-in at the Main Office to receive a visitor’s pass (photo ID is required).

Dress Code – Students are required to wear their full AHA school uniform (spring or winter), including the uniform shoe for all three days of orientation. Blazers are not required. Tech training rooms will be air conditioned, so you may choose to bring your long sleeved AHA shirt or sweater with you.

Laptops - Will be distributed to students on the first day of orientation and MUST be brought to school on Tuesday and Wednesday during orientation for Tech Training and workshops.

Lunch – Please bring lunch, snack(s) and drink(s)/water with you Tuesdayand Wednesday. On Thursday, please pack snack(s) and drink(s) only; lunch will be provided for everyone that day! Vegetarian and gluten free options will be offered. All lunches are nut-free.

Should you have other special dietary restrictions, please contact Mr. Ash, Chef Manager at: NO LATER than Friday, August 24th so that we may accommodate you.

Closing Ceremony - Thursday, August 30th, all Parents/Guardians are invited to a special closing ceremony at 1:00pm in the school’s auditorium. Don’t forget! Students are REQUIRED and parents/guardians are encouraged to wear their BLUE Angel shirts! (Students who did not attend the Welcome BBQ in May will receive their BLUE Angel t-shirts on the first day of orientation.) As a reminder, these shirts should not be altered and should be worn in place of the uniform shirt on Thursday only. All other uniform requirements remain the same.

Wednesday, August 29th at 6:30pm in the school auditorium. This meeting is for Parents/Guardians only and at least one parent/guardian is required to attend. Your daughter will receive an emergency contact form the first day of orientation which must be filled out, signed and returned to the Dean this evening. Please enter through the Event Doors in the back of the school.

Don’t forget! Now is the perfect time to finish (or start) your summer reading! Please click here to view Summer Reading Lists and assignments. Students will be tested on their summer reading during the first month of school. Class lists with student ID's and workbook ordering instructions were emailed in early July. Wednesday, September 5th is a full day of school (7:50am – 2:05pm). Students are required to be in full, proper uniform (spring or winter) including uniform shoes and should bring their blazers to school.

Holy Angels will be closed on Friday, August 31st and Monday, September 3rd for the holiday weekend.
