2018 Summer Reading Program and Assignments

To diversify reading, heighten interest in different subject areas and prepare students for the demands of college, all students at the Academy of the Holy Angels are required to complete a summer reading program. Unless otherwise indicated, students will be tested on the assigned works during the first full week of school.

Additional summer assignments are required for certain courses to prepare you for the beginning for the school year. All directions are contained in the specific assignment. Please make sure you have the correct assignment for your class.

Spanish 4 Honors: Sister Carole will meet with next year's students in Spanish IV-Honors before they leave for the summer. They will receive a packet with work to be completed as a summer assignment.

Religion: Completion of the Community Service Graduation Requirement will take the place of summer reading for juniors. Please download complete this assignment

Wednesday, June 1 through Sunday, August 28 - Annual physicals must be completed during this time. No exceptions. Please click here for a listing of low-cost clinics.
The nurse's office will be open July 9 - July 20 from 9:00am - 12:00pm to accept completed physicals and other medical related paperwork. Mrs. Buckey may be reached via phone: 201-768-7822 ext. 218 or email:

During the first week of July, you will receive your list of classes with your student ID number from the registrar’s office via email. Use this information to order your workbooks for next year. Details and ordering instructions will be included in this list for you.

Once you receive your list of classes from the registrar in July, you can begin working on any summer reading or assignments you may have. Please note that not all classes or levels have summer work.

Please visit for easy online ordering! We encourage you to order early to avoid back orders!

New Student Orientation runs from Tuesday, August 28th - Thursday August 30 from 8am-2pm and is mandatory for all new students! Students are required to wear their full winter or spring uniform for all three days of orientation, including uniform shoe (no blazers).

In addition, students are must wear their Blue ANGEL Shirts on Thursday, August 30th for their Pinning Ceremony. Please do not lose or alter these shirts. Parents are encouraged to wear their Angel shirts to the ceremony as well. More details regarding orientation and the Pinning Ceremony will follow in August. **Students who were unable to attend the Welcome BBQ will receive their blue Angel shirts on the first day of orientation.

New Parent Orientation will be held in the school auditorium on Wednesday, August 29 from 6pm - 8pm. At least one parent/guardian is required to attend - no students.

Wednesday, September 5 will be a full day of school for all students! Students must be in homeroom by 7:50am and will be dismissed at 2:05. Full winter or spring uniform with uniform shoes are required to be worn! Please bring your gym uniform, sneakers and blazers to school with you!

The school offices at Academy of the Holy Angels will be closed for summer vacation beginning Monday, June 25 and will re-open on Monday, August 20.
