Whether she is at home or traveling the globe, Anya is constantly learning and discovering ways to help others. As a member of her church’s mission trip to Nicaragua, Anya volunteered at the Mustard Seed Community, an orphanage for disabled children. Closer to home, she has been part of the 30-mile Multiple Sclerosis Bike Ride for the last four years, and served as a counselor for a local Bible Camp. In addition to her trip to Nicaragua, Anya interned at Montefiore Medical Center, where she synthesized her knowledge of art, technology, and anatomy to create 3D models for surgeons who are planning procedures. She also observed several surgeries. At Holy Angels, Anya is a member of the National Honor Society, and consistently makes the AHA Honor Roll. She participated in the humanities study abroad program in Germany and Austria, and remains active with Student Council, Habitat for Humanity, Restore, Angel Ambassadors, and Music Makers. She has been seen in AHA’s production of “The Drowsy Chaperone” and Don Bosco Prep’s “How to Succeed in Business without Really Trying.” While she was a member of the Lower Hudson Valley Youth Chorus, she performed at Madison Square Garden, Radio City Music Hall, and Citi Field. Anya currently shares her musical talents at her church, where she also serves as a Eucharistic Minister. Anya’s athleticism has earned her First Team All-League honors for shot put and discus, First Team All-County Honorable Mention, and the Coaches Award for Most Valuable Player.

“Attending AHA was the best decision that I’ve ever made. AHA has transformed me into the person I am today: a mature young woman who is ready to conquer the problems of the world around her. AHA has given me the foundation in academics and spirituality to achieve anything I set my mind to.”
