MEET KIRSTEN

Kirsten is a well-known wordsmith whose humor writing earned her a National Silver Medal and an Honorable Mention in the 2018 Scholastic Art & Writing Award competition. These accolades came as no surprise at AHA, where Kirsten is the school newspaper’s editor-in-chief and the literary magazine’s director of submissions. Kirsten just launched Spitfire Literary Magazine, an online quarterly that features pieces by young writers. Her drive to promote literacy led her to create a 1,600+ volume library for the Boys and Girls Club of Garfield, the project for which she earned her Girl Scout Gold Award. Kirsten’s many awards include three medals for her work on the National Spanish Exam, and the University of Pennsylvania Book Award. She is a National Merit Scholarship Semi-finalist and recently received a Sister Nonna Dunphy Scholarship. This Angel is captain of the AHA Handbell Choir and co-captain of the AHA Varsity Fencing Sabre Squad. She is an Angel Ambassador and a member of the debate team and the lobby design crew. Kirsten is president of the Spanish Honor Society, and a member of the National Honor Society, Mu Alpha Theta (math), Tri-M (music), National Art Honor Society, and Science National Honor Society. Kirsten volunteered with the New Millennium Dance Company, a group that organizes shows and dances for senior citizens. She has also served on her library’s Teen Advisory Board. Kirsten organized a major fundraiser and children’s activities for the Surf City Yacht Club. Before her senior year, she participated in AHA’s service trip to Nazareth Farm.

“The environment at AHA has been a great fit for me, and I’ve really flourished in the company of so many ambitious and talented girls. I grow into a more confident version of myself with every day that I spend at AHA, and it's amazing to see all that I've accomplished during my time here thanks to all the support I've received from teachers and classmates. Though Holy Angels has been challenging at times, I never look back on my decision to attend because I know it has made me into the person I am today.”
