When looking at a high school, the primary focus should be finding the school that best matches a student’s educational goals. We recognize that cost and financial assistance are important considerations.

In addition to our financial aid program, AHA is proud to announce the following scholarship opportunities for students:

Mother Caroline Scholarship

This scholarship is named in honor of Mother Caroline Friess, SSND who led the School Sisters of Notre Dame to the United States in 1847. This 4-year scholarship is for students entering grade 9 who have demonstrated excellence on the 8th grade academic record and on the Upper Level SSAT.

All applicants are automatically considered for a Mother Caroline Scholarship during application review.
Accepted students who are awarded a Mother Caroline Scholarship will receive written notification from the Finance Office in mid-January. Mother Caroline Scholarship recipients must maintain a yearly average of 90%.


Angel Recognition Awards
These one-time awards are granted to students who have demonstrated academic excellence. These awards are not renewable unless specifically indicated.


Achievement Awards

Reflecting our commitment to empower each young woman to reach the fullness of her potential, we are pleased to offer the following award opportunities to celebrate student talent and passion. These awards are offered to students entering grade 9 and are a renewable* $2,000 award granted at freshman application year only. Applicants are limited to one award submission per student.

  • Leadership Award: Outstanding leadership in the area of service to others.
  • Spirituality and Service Award: Outstanding humility and compassion in serving others.
  • Fine Arts Award: Demonstrated excellence in art.
  • Instrumental Award: Demonstrated excellence in music performance.
  • Choral Award: Demonstrated excellence in vocal performance.

Sister Mary Nonna Dunphy Scholarship
Each year scholarships are awarded to 10th-12th graders in memory of our foundress, Sister Mary Nonna Dunphy. Students are invited to apply for this scholarship based on their academic record and faculty recommendation. These partial scholarships are awarded on academic excellence, leadership, character, service and an interview with the scholarship committee.

THE APPLICATION PERIOD FOR 2023-2024 AWARDS WILL BE OPEN ON FEBRUARY 1, 2023

Parents/Guardians of students from low income families currently or planning to enroll in a Newark Archdiocesan school (Catholic Schools within Bergen, Essex, Hudson, and Union counties) are eligible to apply. Due to the large number of applications responses may take up to 5 business days. Thank you for your patience.

There will be an SFIC Application Assistance day on March 1, 2023 from 5pm – 8pm at the Newark Archdiocesan Center. To get assistance in filling out the application call and rsvp at 973-497-4280. You must bring in your 2022 documents required (Federal 1040 and the application fee of $35.

These four-year scholarships are available to students entering their 9th grade year of high school or freshman year of college who meet the following eligibility requirements: Italian heritage (25% minimum), Financial Need (see application for specifics), Academic Excellence and Service to school and community.
