Latest News

Dear AHA Community,

It is with very heavy hearts that we share the news of the passing of our beloved friend and colleague Karen Sullivan Camporeale, ’88. Words cannot express our sadness but let us take consolation in the knowledge that Karen was surrounded by family, friends and her unwavering faith. We know you join all of us at Holy Angels in sending our deepest prayers and sympathies to her family.

As we say goodbye to our teacher and friend, let us remember how much we loved her and how as a beloved alumna, she loved all things AHA. Her laughter, ever-ready smile, fidelity, love of family, and extraordinary faith in God is the legacy she leaves for all of us. Karen was an Angel among us who lived life with grace and that is how she passed into Heaven. May the Angels now welcome her home.

Funeral arrangements are being handled by Frech-McKnight Funeral Home in Dumont and can be found on their website at www.frechfuneralhome.com.

Mary Foley Celebrates 50 Years as a School Sister of Notre Dame

Sister Mary Foley, SSND, spent May 9th celebrating her Golden Jubilee as a School Sister of Notre Dame. The Academy of the Holy Angels honored S. Mary in style, with an afternoon prayer service followed by Mass and dinner. S. Mary and several SSNDs, including AHA educators S. Carole Tabano and S. Kathleen Dunham, also renewed their vows. Among the SSNDs present was S. Mary’s mentor, S. Kay O’Connell of Wilton, Connecticut. S. Kay is currently celebrating her Diamond Jubilee as an SSND. As a special surprise, AHA Principal Jean Mullooly announced that the State of New Jersey, County of Bergen, and Borough of Demarest had all declared May 9th Sister Mary Foley Day in honor of S. Mary’s numerous contributions to people throughout the world. Read more
